   Hi,

   My name is Pierre Jouvelot, and I’m a Professor at MINES ParisTech
   (formerly Ecole des mines de Paris), one of the top engineering
   schools in France.

   I’ll be visiting China (Beijing, Shanghai and Hong-Kong) in mid-April 2011
   with 30+ students from a joint information systems management program
   created with HEC, the top business school in Europe. Other professors
   from HEC and MINES ParisTech will be part of our group too, with possibly
   some students from our Executive program.

   We would deeply appreciate if you could take some of your time to give
   us a short presentation of your institution and its view on the use and
   management of information systems and technology, present and future.

   This visit by French students of Chinese institutions is part of their curriculum in
   information system management. These students belong to a unique and
   innovative joint post-graduate program between MINES ParisTech and
   HEC, two French institutions which have been consistently considered the best
   in their respective field, namely engineering and management:

   - MINES ParisTech
   (http://www.mines-paristech.fr/Eng/Intro/pageaccueil.html) is the
   leading French higher-education institution in science and
   engineering. Created in 1783, it currently provides curriculums in
   various fields, such as applied maths, physics, geology, finance or
   computer science, and delivers engineering graduate diplomas and PhDs.
   Our students usually end up working at the highest level in various
   international companies and research institutions. Two former Nobel
   prize laureates were students or professors at MINES ParisTech, as was
   Carlos Ghosn, the current Renault-Nissan CEO.

   - HEC, for “Hautes Etudes Commerciales” (http://www.hec.fr/hec/eng/),
   is the leading French higher-education business school. It was created
   125 years ago and from the very start strived to train tomorrow’s
   world leaders. Its faculty includes more than 100 full-time
   professors, who provide a wide range of management education programs,
   up to the executive level. HEC is one of the very few AACSB-accredited
   business schools in France.

   Our goal with this tour is to introduce our students to the top
   companies that lead the information revolution in China in all its
   aspects (technology, applications, management, …), and give them a
   good overview of the technology management techniques that support
   this goal. This trip is part of a series of business visits we
   organized this way over the years; we successively visited Silicon
   Valley, Quebec, New-York, Sweden, India, Japan and Korea, where we
   focused our companies selection on e-commerce, networking, financial,
   embedded systems, outsourcing issues and mobile computing.

   Please note that some of these students are supposed, as part of their
   curriculum, to spend some internship time in a French or foreign country. So
   this visit could also give you an opportunity to get in touch with
   them and ask them to join your team for an internship, if you so wish.

   I’m looking forward to your answer, and hope that we’ll soon be able
   to agree on a time schedule for our visit.
